Mom and I were watching the news and they were saying the Air Force will face a shortage of fighter pilots. I joked with her, "maybe I'll become one!" Despite me being 47 and terminally nearsighted, although the 1980's era kid in me would love to fly an F-15, I'd never get in but Mom said, "I'd never let you die for Obama."

I had a co-worker who wanted to join the military when he turned 18, his Vietnam Vet father said, "if you join, I'll beat you to a pulp and disown you." Sad to say we have come to that feeling like my mother and his dad. B-(

I was 43 when I joined the Army. If you are a professional in certain fields, the age requirements are different than for most military recruits.

However, I do not think you will be able to fulfill your dream of becoming a pilot. I'm pretty sure you have to be young and have nearly 20/20 vision.

I hear you; I would do the same to my children if they ever hinted they wanted to join. As white boys they are de jure criminals already, worthy of nothing but contempt, racial & gender discrimination, and double standards in terms of legal proceedings.
