Group dedicates Trayvon Martin memorial in Sanford

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WFTV) -- A group of Trayvon Martin supporters walked from Jacksonville to Sanford, where they dedicated a memorial for the teen at a museum late Saturday afternoon.

The demonstrators arrived in Sanford late Friday, ending what they called the "Walk for Dignity," which started in Jacksonville.

The group held a community forum Saturday afternoon, followed by a dedication of the Trayvon Martin memorial at the Goldsboro Westside Historical Museum.

"The most important reason why we're here, we want a system that treats us equally," marcher Estefania Galvis said.

The group's six-day walk from Jacksonville to Sanford was organized to bring awareness of what it believes are injustices due to laws relating to stand your ground. It's an issue that hasn't quit since Zimmerman was found not guilty of murder in Martin's death.

Additionally, the group is calling for the resignation of State Attorney Angela Corey, who was the special prosecutor in the George Zimmerman case.

"She is the representative of the system that has failed us. That's the first step, we want a new system," Galvis said.

The marchers also went door-to-door in the Sanford community earlier on Saturday to egage and connect with local residents.

The people who built this memorial are - in effect - voting for the installation of hundreds of times more video cameras than we have at present.

Thousands of young black males are gunned down every year by other young black males. In addition, hundreds of innocent black kids, male and female, are caught in crossfires by black thugs and killed. Where are the memorials for those innocent black children? The whole deification of Trayvon Martin would be laughable if things weren’t already so sad and depressing.

I wonder if they have incorporated the St. Trayvon Foundation yet.

Until Zimmerman with his legal team speak up and start firing back and getting the truth out there and filing those law suits this BS is going to keep on and on and on in the media. Now, in the black community the truth doesn't matter anyway because, a large portion or spiteful racists with a victim mentality. Even if they know Trayvon was a thug in training and definitely attacked first and was beating a man, they don't care. They just don't. In their small warped heads that's okay because Zimmerman had the nerve to profile poor St. Trayvon. In their mind it's fine to do whatever to a non-black because they deserve it for years of “institutional racism.”
This is a psychosis that I don't see ending especially since it works on those in power and of course with the media.

However it would help if Zimmerman and Co. fought back and stomped out some of this craziness especially the media's part.

Unless they have a real (recent) picture of Martin this thing is just a lie to me. They should be showing the innocent looking 11-12 year old Martin beside a picture of the 17 year old Martin and be asking what happened to him.

What would such a memorial need?

1) A Purple Drank dispenser.

2) Gangsta Rap music on loudspeakers.

3) A pronunciation guide to “black gutter lingo” for white liberals.

4) A petition for the police to no longer arrest black yoots for any offense at all.

5) A “racial guilt” admission fee for whites, Hispanics, Indians, Asians, and those who are less than 25% black.
