Zimmerman had two big advantages over Trayvon ["Martin had an immature prefrontal cortex"]
Neveda Appeal ^ | July 27, 2013 | Marilee Swirczek

Posted on 07/28/2013 7:42:47 AM PDT by kevcol

The Zimmerman verdict sits like a stone in the guts of many Americans. We struggle to put our finger on what sickens us, but we know something feels really bad.
.
.
In other words, Zimmerman, almost twice Martin’s age, had a mature prefrontal cortex and a gun, while Martin had an immature prefrontal cortex still overruled by primitive limbic structures, a can of sweet tea, and Skittles.
.
.
So if Farmer is suggesting that 29-year-old Zimmerman was frightened for his life, I am suggesting that 17-year-old Martin was too. But Zimmerman possessed all the ammunition to prevent this tragedy.

This is the lamest stretch for justifying Trayvon Martin's assault on GZ yet - and it does so under the guise of psychology/science. I guess this "professor" is suggesting that since "the maturation of the prefrontal cortex is not achieved until about 25 years of age" (I'd like to see that on a sign at a Trayvon rally), that no person under the age of 25 is responsible for their violent crime or behavior.

Monday morning quarterbacks. So now it’s that Zimmerman was asking for it, eh? Was he wearing a short skirt?

There is no limit to what they will say.

They might as well say that Zimmerman is guilty of murder: "Because".

That's the level at which they operate. Stupid Liberals.

There you have it.  Those who have a fully matured prefrontal cortex are required to forfeit their life, so those who don't can live.  Isn't it sad this sage advise came about twenty months too late?

Well..., NO.

” Martin wasn’t followed and killed because he was black, but because he was tall and therefore not innocent.”

No Marilee, you extreme dope, Trayvon was followed because it was obvious that Trayvon was casing houses hiding behind a hoodie. The tall part adds to the fear, I may be smarter than a 17 year old but I know he is faster and if he is bigger than me too, that means his legs are longer and yes, I factor in that he is stupider because he is a teen on hormones and doesn’t think about long term consequences and could do any of a dozen immature hot tempered things so I better look out. Now do you get it Marilee you dumb idiot?

Bunk.

When I was 16 years old, I knew that pounding on people was wrong.

Then we should raise the voting age to 25. She should ask the Democrats what they think of that idea.

Trayvon could have walked to his house. He choose to fight instead. He lost.

I wonder if it would do any good for someone to explain to this babbling b*tch that the skittles and tea were two thirds of traytable’s favorite narcotic drink, Lean? Probably not. She is the typical leftist ignoramus, off down her chosen rabbit hole.

Agree. In addition he lacked sufficient intelligence to foresee the possible consequences of his act; i.e. the victim of his assault may have a gun; may be stronger etc. etc. In short he lacked the intelligence to appreciate the high risk imposed by his conduct. Martin was stupid and paid the high price extracted by his stupidity.

“Marilee Swirczek is professor emeritus at Western Nevada College and lives in Carson City.”

There's your problem. WNC is a community college on the verge of breaking mediocrity.

When you look up “cognitive dissonance” in the dictionary, you find a picture of Marilee Swirczek.

Oh brother. Zimmerman’s more “mature” prefrontal cortex was being smashed by the thug.

And when will this ridiculous excuse be used in favor of curtailing the rights of people under 25 and not just as an excuse for their misdeeds?

The kid definitely had some serious issues, yet his dad left him home alone. I wouldn't have left that kid alone, period.
