The cop on the scene should be fired He could evaluate a man who couldn’t speak or move his left hand.

Since “sudden confusion or trouble understanding” can be a symptom. . . I was wondering how one might be able to self-diagnose and call 911?

A guy at work came into his shift last week, and he seemed a bit "off". During the first ten minutes of his shift he was doing things in the wrong order and with one arm down. When we spoke with him he was confused about anything you asked him.
We saw it as a stroke and called for an ambulance. By the time he got to the hospital his speech is gone and his one side is mostly paralyzed. They don't know if it will become permanent. He was 52.

From the story...they should have gone to court:
"There is no doubt in my mind," she wrote, "that if plaintiff's claims were presented to a jury, plaintiff would receive a judgment against HCSO in amounts that far exceed $200,000."

With a sad article like the one above, it’s nice to hear a good report. Thanks.

If you catch a stroke within three hours there is a drug option which will reverse the impact.
Dependence on the type of stroke but there is a three hour window.

Don’t anyone make the mistake of thinking that strokes only happen to old people. I know someone who had one when he was in his 20s.

I’m pretty sure this was the same police dept. that used a hood on a guy and then pepper sprayed the hood. Ends up he is off of his meds. The police leave the hood on the man and continue to spray him while he is handcuffed to a chair. He eventually dies. It’s in the court system now to find out who is at fault for his death, several were involved. Some scary cops out there

From the article:
“attorneys for his estate say he was examined at the scene by paramedics who “found no medical problems.” The paramedics nevertheless suggested Hicks be transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, according to the complaint.”
So many to blame for this fiasco.

Where was his family during those 36 hrs? Did they know he was in jail? And i am curious as to why he had a suspended license in the past? So sad... poor guy...

There are 6 cops who live in my immediate neighborhood. One of them will say hi, the rest won’t even wave or say hi when you pass them. Including the one who lives right behind me.
Our house was broken into a while back. The one that says hi later stopped and asked me about it. He said he assumed it was a felony arrest and wasn’t happy to hear it was a burglary.
how times have changed.

And I'm reasonably confident that access to such a drug will be rationed under Obamacare. If you're over 50 or not affiliated with any union, community organizing group, political office, or be a member of the LGBT bunch, you'll be getting a more holistic course of treatment.

Depends on who's point of view one takes. Positive community relations among the local police and it's citizenry is a scary thing if you run a central planning government.

When you think the so-called parents of St. Skittles received a $1million settlement for their ‘loss’ (once they noticed it), this hardly seems enough for this poor man's family.
