They'll say Baxter(like ATMs)is taking away jobs. Yes, he's taking away non-skilled jobs. Somebody with skills had to draw and design him, build all the parts, wire him, program him, assemble him and maintain him. The jobs of the future will require skilled workers and we are not preparing for it.

But even if a company made those low-skilled jobs available, would there be takers?

The store that hires “Baxter” is going to have to have some employees to service and repair “Baxter” as well as reprogram him every time the menu changes.
Plus “Baxter” never will come with a cute smile or a friendly attitude. Those matter to me the few times I go to a fast food place.

I fix robots, and they pay me a lot more than the burger flipper. A whole lot more.
