In the decades following its bankruptcy in 1953, Indian Motorcycle was the target of several companies that tried unsuccessfully to revive the storied brand, the leading motorcycle manufacturer of its time.

But now Indian has the financial muscle to make it happen. Polaris (PII), the maker of snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles and Victory motorcycles, bought Indian in 2011 and is moving at full throttle to bring it back to prominence.

Although original in design, I don’t think the Vision really caught on. Victory new it would be a gamble with that design. However, they doing very nicely with the more traditional looking Cross Country. If I was looking a luxury
bagger, I would get that.

I like a leaner, more basic experience while riding, so I went with the Hammer.

My second motorcycle(I’ve owned a few)was a 1954(last year they made them)full dress Indian Chief(this was the 74 Cubic inch twin, not the 4 cylinder pictured on this thread) I bought from a guy in 1964 for $150.00. Kept it for years finally sold it and enough parts to build two Indian chiefs and a scout for $1500.00 in about 1980. Should have charged more, or better yet, should have kept it.
