Now one time, just one single time, New Jersey is getting some money back (mind you, we are still sending more out than we’ll be getting back
Look, you’ve been tolerating big government and high taxes (e.g. democrats) for decades. You obviously like this financial bleeding. Christie could have approached this as with realism and appreciation for small government and frugality. Instead he discredited his own party for all this boodle.
TO BENEFIT ALASKAN FISHERIES
the VA Manhattan Medical Center
$4 million for repairs at Kennedy Space Center in Florida;
$3.3 million for the Plum Island Animal Disease Center
$1.1 million to repair national cemeteries.
but wait...
$58.8 million for forest restoration on private land.
$197 million to
protect coastal ecosystems and habitat impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
$10.78 billion for public transportation, most of which is allocated to future construction and improvements, not disaster relief.
$17 billion for wasteful Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), a program that has become notorious for its use as a backdoor earmark program.
TEN BILLION FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION !!!! Doesn’t that make your devastated citizens feel better??!?!?!?!
Your governor threw a tantrum for this porkulus....
So its another step to financial armageddon and New Jersey makes it a big one.
But when my state gets hammered and we get our own money back (we're still not breaking even mind you) you all get on your soapboxes in righteous indignation and call me a liberal because I want to keep my tax dollars in my own state. Basically you are defending the system where my money goes to your states and your pork. Good conservative principle, that.
Now one month you get hit with a big hospital bill. The end of the month comes and you say "guys, I know you always take $11 but I really need my money back. Okay, maybe not all of it. Maybe I could at least take $8 or $9 back this month?" and all your friends screamed "Liberal! Sponge! Thief!" That's what's going on here.
