I tried that, but there’s a little black “lock’ icon on the screen that’s not letting me enter/do anything on the screen. I can’t figger out how to unlock it.

I threatened it with the Kimber, but that didn’t work.

Any idea what the black lock icon comes from?

It also wants IP addy, gateway, subnet mask, but the lock icon won’t let me enter any info.

Her HP laptop (Win-8) grabbed the Cisco Network (it’s Commiecast here; I don’t know where Cisco came from) and set-itself-up right away when I right-clicked network, and chose Cisco, which was all that was available. It did an auto-set-up; no other data input req’d.

Gawd, I feel so dumb.

Go to settings WiFi and make sure “ask to join networks” is turned on.

that’s all I got - unless your sis has iPad password protected, you may need that too

The black lock is on the right, don’t click that.

The name of the network is on the left, press that. The keypad will come up and you enter the password.
