This is no surprise. TransCanada has been talking about this project for months.

The nail in the coffin will be the Northern Gateway project from Hardisty to a tanker terminal in Kitimat on the Pacific Coast. Chinese tankers will be lining up all the way from Shanghai. The Chinese don't seem to be concerned about "environmental issues". They also probably don't worry about not enough jobs or the price of gasoline going up because there is more oil (I still haven't figured that one out). They just want a secure supply of energy. Go figure.

Obama was re-elected. Elections have consequences. For Americans that means: fewer jobs, more expensive energy, and dependence on dictators for oil.

“Northern Gateway project from Hardisty to a tanker terminal in Kitimat on the Pacific Coast.”

This project is intended to replace northern gateway altogether thanks to the morons in Vancouver. I couldn’t be more furious with the administration there.

What this is going to do is eventually put a million barrels a day onto the international market. While Alberta produces more than enough oil for the energy needs of Canada it still imports quite a bit in the eastern part of the country. What comes in for the east is more than balanced by the outflow of Albertan oil to the US. This basically shuts down the need for any imported oil in Canada from now on. I think most of it was from Venezuela. Suddenly V has to sell that oil to someone else. Who? Who knows?
