House votes 232-185 to block the IRS from enforcing ObamaCare

The House voted Friday to prevent the IRS from enforcing any aspect of ObamaCare, a bill meant to exact revenge against an agency that Republicans say is incapable of neutral enforcement of the law.

Members approved the Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act in a 232-185 vote. Four Democrats supported the bill along with every Republican. The vote capped off several days of work in the House on bills aimed at reining in government regulation and government overreach.

House Democrats cast the votes as merely for show, given opposition from the White House and the Senate majority. The Obama administration threatened to veto the IRS enforcement bill and said it would undermine the 2010 healthcare law that is aimed at expanding healthcare coverage.

Some of these healthcare votes have created awkward moments for Democrats. Earlier this month, 22 Democrats voted with Republicans to delay the individual insurance mandate, and 35 voted to delay the employer mandate.

It's all for show isn't it?
This vote means nothing in the end.

Are they going to do the right thing and defund or aren't they?

"Another symbolic vote."

Yeah, what a pathetic joke. The IRS doesn't even bother to obey its own regulations, or claims no political administrators were involved in the massive political harassment of conservative organizations, but that it was all some janitor's fault for not following clear directions.

More like a yawn...

Unless they’re willing to use the power that they do have and that means something (defunding), everything else is a waste of time.

A ‘nothingburger’ ... Senate won’t pass it, Obama would never sign it. They have no leverage. Now, on the CR .... they do have leverage, IF they can find their spines and I have not one shred of faith that they will.

Just typical DC BS. Assuming it gets through the senate, about a 1 in 100 possibility, it would be vetoed and with the number in favor not 2/3s of the house, no override is possible.

DEFUND IT.

Smoke and mirrors.

Since they know Reid will never allow it to go for a vote in the Senate, it is nothing but a gesture.

Want to really put ObummerCare in the crosshairs, Boehner? Take up in the House Mike Lee’s Senate bill to defund ObummerCare.

It’s a start

B$ it is another useless vote to show us peasants how much they care. The only power they have is to deny the funding for it and I don't see any chance that Boehner will even bring that up.

They will however pass Amnesty in some form before the election.

This is good practice. Now just pass it again, exactly like this vote, except while attached to a CR, then we’ll be talkin...

Exactly. And it is a damn pity that Mike Lee can't get more than a handful of senators to sign on.

I wonder who the four house Democrats were that supported the bill along with every Republican. Maybe we could get them working on the RINO Republicans in the senate.

Unfortunately, what little is left of the centrist Democrats are usually in lockstep with the RINO Republicans.

Don't forget that Harry Reid was one of the more centrist Democrats before he became majority leader.

His voting record was pretty much the same as your typical RINO Republican.

Whomever they replace him with will be worse.
