“Someone valued them enough to pay for them. Now, as free men, no one would pay anything for them. They have no value. It is tough to live your life when you know you are not an asset but a liability. Beneath all of the umma-chuckin and mau-mauing many know this. Deep down they know it.”

I think their way of thinking is a load of crap — a cop-out to avoid working. Every person has a choice to become decent, valuable, and an asset to the community. It’s a matter of taking responsibility for the path of your own life. We have so many (conservative, usually) examples of black people who have started life in the ghettos and become amazing success stories. Basically, “ya gotta wanna”. It’s easier to be a lazy criminal than a motivated, contributing member of society. (IMHO)
