The Pueblo Chieftain has been commiting calculated acts of journalism covering the Giron recall. There are several good articles, and video interviews of Giron and Rivera.

Rivera is the only choice on the ballot. No democrat qualified, the Libertarian had too few signatures. Hehe.

This is good local info on the Giron recall. The source link has links to good letters, video and editorials by Giron and Rivera.

Thanks for the link. That is great. The acts of journalism are becoming less random. The comment section at the Chieftain appears to be swamped by Bloomberg droids.

KRDO says it best — “to suggest that outside sources and special interests drove that campaign, that is a low blow.” Then again, the recall defense campaigns of Senators Giron and Morse have taught us to not expect anything less.

from your link.

Check out the krdo website to see a particular DUmbberg droid spam his stupidity at a record pace. The OBot is not going to happy on the 11th of September.

Getting rid of Morse and Giron would send a very clear message to anti-gun politicians in purple-ish states like Colorado. Let’s hope the recall is successful.

I really like Pueblo, Colorado. Even though back in 1978 or so, I was invited to leave a bar there because I was not brown enough. As I told the Barkeep, I was hot and tired and just needed a beer, besides I did not know the rules there. I got the beer drank it and left. Pretty funny,

I think DC types are nervous about the implications of a successful recall. Union backed recalls in Wisconsin failed. If grassroots recalls in Colorado succeed it sends a strong message.

Which is why Bloomberg is going to spend a zillion bucks fighting the Colorado recalls. I think he'll lose, but we'll see in September.

Published: July 29, 2013 | Last modified: July 30, 2013 02:31PM Republican George Rivera expects to hear, possibly today, that his name will be on the Sept. 10 recall election ballot that will decide whether state Sen. Angela Giron, D-Pueblo, holds her seat.

Rivera is the only alternative candidate who could qualify for the ballot because Sonia Negrete-Winn, a Pueblo Democrat, fell short in her last-minute petition campaign to be considered.

The 43-year-old coordinator for Colorado Bluesky Industries needed 1,000 signatures from registered Democrats in Senate District 3 by 5 p.m. Monday. She only started collecting signatures last Thursday and essentially ran out of time.

“I came close to 800 signatures, but I knew I wasn’t going to be able to get enough,” she said early Monday afternoon. Giron wasn’t offended by Negrete-Winn’s last-minute effort, saying she understood the strategy of also having a Democratic candidate as an alternate choice to Rivera. Rivera said he is confident Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler’s office will validate his petitions today or Wednesday.

Like the Pueblo Freedom and Rights committee that launched the recall petition drive against Giron, Rivera’s supporters used the Pueblo County voter database to check petitions signers. He needed 1,000 Republican voters from the district to sign his petitions. He turned in about 1,500 signatures last Friday.

Mail ballots go out on Aug. 19. Rivera wants Giron to agree to a debate, which she has declined to do. Colorado Republican Party Chairman Ryan Call jumped into the local recall fight Monday, saying Giron was hiding from voters by not debating -
