Environmentalist billionaire Tom Steyer is testing his influence in the Virginia gubernatorial election in support of Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe, with his political group preparing to spend a large amount of money in the race.

Steyer is a San Francisco billionaire who used to work as a hedge fund manager, and is using his super PAC "NextGen Climate Action" to launch television ads to mobilize environmentalist voters to turn out in the gubernatorial race in support of McAuliffe in the Old Dominion, Politco reports.

Steyer told Politico that he hopes to send a message to the country about the power of climate-oriented politics.

"I would say there's a very clear choice on this topic between these two candidates, and I think the citizens of Virginia deserve to understand both what the truth is and what the implications of that are," he said.

If people knew the truth about the "anthropogenic global warming" fraud, there'd be [fill in the blank] to pay in Washington, D.C.

"Vote McAuliffe: Because Virginia should be more like Maryland San Francisco!"

Since Steyer lives in the SF Bay Area, I think this is more appropriate.

This is an evil tide sweeping the nation, and I hate to see The Old Dominion fall under its influence. Billionaires sticking their nose into individual state campaigns. Most thinking Virginians would tell this SanFran greenie with more money than brains to get the he!! out of our state. Unfortunately, political ads on TV have an effect on our uninformed voters.

McAuliffe was a total creep way back when he was in Syracuse, NY. We don't want him back and poor VA better wise up!

I agree... we are running out of time to reach these uninformed voters and we have no party to work within to do it. Sad times.
