Sadly, however, farm-belt states (that grow a lot of corn) are represented by politicians who consider the requirement to use some ethanol a wonderful thing...

The really bad thing about farmers is that they are getting farmers addicted to an income based on an irrational government policy.
It is bound to bite them at some point in the near future.
