I was stationed there twice.

We always pronounced it: la-joone (pronouncing the ‘j’ like the French “Jacques”)

I deployed to lyman road and OP-2 many times, hit Onslow Beach once from the Pensacola, and we never called it Lejerne

it was CRAMP LEJUNE!

I’ve never been stationed there, but have been TAD there many times in a civilian capacity.

When the Commanding General corrects your pronunciation, you take note. They are actively trying to change the pronunciation to ‘Camp Luh-jern’.

In the same way, they are trying to change the pronunciation of Kadena AFB. But for us old farts, it’s hard to change.
