Georgia Republicans Like Disgraced Chef Paula Deen More Than Civil Rights Hero Martin Luther King

It’s as backwards as pineapple upside-down cake.

Disgraced chef and Georgia native Paula Deen is more popular among Republicans in her home state than civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr., a shocking new poll revealed Wednesday.

Nearly 75% of Georgia GOPers had a favorable opinion of the celebrity chef, who has suffered a stunning fall from grace after she admitted to using the N-word, compared to the 59% of Peach State Republicans who had a favorable view of King Jr., according to a new poll from left-leaning Public Policy Polling.

Only 11% of those polled had an unfavorable view of Deen, while nearly 30% felt unfavorably toward King

The poll, which took place earlier this week, surveyed 520 Georgia voters by telephone.

The 66-year-old Deen, who had starred in “Paula’s Best Dishes” and “Paula’s Home Cooking,” was dumped by the Food Network earlier this summer after an admission she made in a deposition that she had repeatedly used the N-word went public.

Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers are being sued by former employee Lisa Jackson, who alleged sexual harassment and a hostile work environment at Deen and Hiers’ restaurant, Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House.

Just a few weeks later after the deposition was made public, Deen fell under even harsher scrutiny when she appeared on NBC’s “Today,” tearfully telling host Matt Lauer that she had only used the epithet once in her life, 30 years ago, because she had a gun pointed at her head.

Paula Deen says the N-word

King plagiarized his thesis, cheated on his wife, and patronized prostitutes

So who’s the bad person here?

Was it his thesis? Or did MLK plagiarize his dissertation? I thought it was the latter but I could be misremembering.

“His assassination was a tragedy”

I am just sorry because he was shot in my home city.
I had just flown in that evening from NYC and the city was under curfew.
I was the only car on the interstate as I drove home from the airport.

I do not grieve for him and never did. I was horrified by the assassination (IMHO) colluded in by the vile, degraded LBJ) precisely because it made him a martyr, gagged real discussion of what he was, and enabled him to win in death that which he never could have won in life.

Paula Deen (Democrat) Campaigned For Obama, according to Breitbart. She probably thought that she too would get a pass. A career-killing miscalculation.

I do not either. When I was living in Memphis, the local CBS affiliate hired me to go down to the “Poor Peoples March” in Marks, MS, and provide some axillary radio communications for them. This was long before the days of cellphones.
I hooked up with a couple of guys who were military intelligence out of some base in Georgia. All of us were really there just to have a good time, and spent most of the time in their mobile camper, having some drinks.
One night we did sneak up to the side of a church where King was speaking, just to see what was going on.

I am not, however, pleased that my home city was where he was knocked off. The media called Memphis a degenerate backwater town. Today, that might be true, as the blacks have grown to be 60 percent of the population, and have taken over all of the government. I am quite pleased to no longer be there.

I am not from Georgia, but I like Paula Deen better than MLK too.

I'm from GA and Deen is kind of a twit, but the MLK industry/dynasty is truly obnoxious. Deen was maumaued by the ever greedy chip on the shoulder black grievance industry with the connivance of the MSM.

Do no wrong? She promised to have both candidates’ wives on her show the last two elections but only had on Moo. She’s as RAT as you can get. She’s been on my tv ban list for years.

I disagree with all that happened to Paula but, no matter what, she is still Trailer Park White Trash.

Can’t stand her over the top affectations of “Suth’n” Cook’n and the butter, lard and salt....Blech.

Swear to Gawd I love fried Okra but, her food can’t taste any better than rehydrated food out of a box.
