I agree with you, and that was my first thought about the bus driver. He was an old guy, and scared.
He called the police, which is what they constantly tell people to do instead of intervining themselves.
I hold more at fault the school administration that did not act immediately when informed those 15-year-olds were selling drugs at school, in effect allowing three more Trayvon Martins go from bad to worse. Early hard intervention might actually save some of these young men their lives later on down the road.
The problem with your theory is that President Obama has told schools not to do anything to a black child unless they can railroad a white child to keep things even.
That is what killed Trayvon. Instead of calling the law when they found him with stolen goods they called the Jewelry a recovery and not a theft. The hid the thief, and he went on to bigger things.

Sadly, I have to disagree. There is NO level of intervention now that can reverse the path of these SMs*. They have already been hard wired.
Intervention in these things need to start at 5 or 6. (If that's what you mean by "early intervention," then I really agree.)

Not that it makes much difference but these punks probably didn't even have 'real' pot to sell the 13 yr old. They play the age old hustle and try to get younger kids to buy a fake bag of weed so they can take the money and get themselves some real stuff. That scam is as old as the hills in the hood when it comes to cheating whitey for money.
To think this little white kid was horrifically beaten because he did the right thing and told on them. He did exactly what all the parents and teachers and authorities told him to do in such a situation. And look what it got him. These little coward thugs should never be allowed back in that school.

Really; truancy should be a capital offense. Stealing all or part of the thousands of dollars per student taxed from the populace.
The three thugs must of been told, they were turned in by some white 12 year old... guess some black school counselor wanted to make sure the thugs weren't going to be dissed again... Set it up so they could 'get even' with the damn white 6th grader who had the gall to stand up to them.
How else would they have know which kid to beat up?
