I will say this until the day I die. The United States Constitution has one purpose and one purpose only - it is a check and restraint on the evil in the heart of man when that evil heart sits in the seat of government. That is its first and best reason for existing.

Specifically, the USC codifies a system of govt where the Federal is subservient to the many states except for a few areas that are clearly delineated. Everyone gets hung up on the BOR's which was really an afterthought to the primary purpose of the document. Well, as such, the USC has failed and the founders be would be appalled at FedGov™ unlimited power.

Actually I look at the Bill of Rights as a further extention of the basic document’s purpose: limited central government. It was the BOR which personalized the concepts of government actions against individual citizens i.e. the government is to have no right to limit speech while you can tell your neighbor to STFU.

what has failed is not the constitution, but We the People.

We neglect to maintain control, and yes, that is why our monster government is out of our hands and in our pockets.

keep your powder dry.
