Major hurricane strike means a Cat 3. Ike and Sandy were not Cat 3 but still put a major hurtin’ where they made landfall. Shows a problem with the current rating system.
8 ft corn stalks, but zero corn! (SF South Bay)
Huge front-page article on Weds this week about the horrors of global warming and the damage it is already causing in California (8 inch rise in water level at the Golden Gate; raging forest fires).
Then, just one day later, huge front page article about this abnormally cold August in the Bay Area.
How do these people prevent their heads from exploding? Maybe tight tin-foil hats contain the bursts?
Global Warming on Free Republic
SE Wi here. Back yard garden doing great here. We skipped cukes and went with yellow zucchini because of prior leaf rot. Zucchini doing well. Only problem this year is COntender bush beans were overwhelmed by little white flies. Roma bush beans doing great
Seriously?
Sandy wasn’t a Hurricane when it hit.
It was bad only because it hit during a close full moon which boosted the High Tide.
It also clashed and combined with another large storm
If Sandy hit a day earlier or later it probably would have been forgotten already

I noticed on the NBC Climate Change Channel, theyve given up on warming and now concentrate on weather events due to climate change.”
They just keep repeating the lie. That combined with indoctrination the schools will breed a population of true believers in short order.
Heh, heh, heh, our good Lord has a wicked sense of humor doesnt He....
I don’t think it’s funny at all.. Bought a house on the lake last fall..
Down on the dock sits a boat and jetski hardly used.
water is to cold and the air temp to low.
This is Murphy getting even with me ;)
...Obama issues an Executive Order to the Sun...
....to increase it's magnetic field....
and make a good crop of sunspots before elections in 2016....
(PhysOrg.com) -- Sunspot formation is triggered by a magnetic field, which scientists say is steadily declining. They predict that by 2016 there may be no remaining sunspots, and the sun may stay spotless for several decades.
The last time the sunspots disappeared altogether was in the 17th and 18th century, and coincided with a lengthy cool period on the planet known as the Little Ice Age....and lasted 400 years.
Good luck surviving with no electricity and GE modified seeds.

What we have to worry about is the shifting of the earth’s magnetic poles due to changes of the inner core.
It was a cat 1. At least one measurement verified at land site, the anemometer on top of a bridge measured 75 mph sustained but that doesn't even matter. There were aircraft wind measurements of 80 mph offshore and as long as there are sustained hurricane winds somewhere it counts as a hurricane.
A major hurricane is cat 3 and Sandy was not a major hurricane in terms of wind. The storm surge was similar to some major hurricanes, but that was just bad timing and funneling effects.
Note, too, how cataclysmic historical events have now been changed. They used to be caused by meteor hits, volcanic eruptions, and floods. Now they are caused by "Climate change" due to these events.
We had several weeks of near-record highs in New Jersey. Then as if someone threw a switch we had a week of October, followed by a more or less return to late summer normal.
By the time Sandy made landfall it had gone below hurricane force. But combining with a second land based storm at the moon-tide time caused it to wreak as much havoc as a full hurricane.
I don't think Sandy was any worse than a Category 2, but the area it hit was just very vulnerable.
