One-thirty am to serve a warrant for an unpaid civil fine? What criminal nonsense. Policeman everywhere should be ashamed of such terroristic behavior. But they aren’t.

Looking at the story, the civil warrant was a retro-excuse. They found something on one of the occupants after the illegal entry. There was no evidence of a warrant. The police (Sheriff's deputies?) called out the wrong address repeatedly.

This looks pretty much like a case of harassment. They further abused the occupants of the house after the illegal entry in hopes of a reaction that would justify further charges.

Frankly when the police act that way, a reasonable person really should be afraid of being killed by the police in the heat of the moment. Coming to the door in the dead of the night without a warrant and demanding entry with a threat of violence is something that could reasonably lead to mayhem and death.

The proper reply to loud banging and belligerence at 1:30 am is, “you have 30 seconds to get off of my property.” Then count to ten and start blasting.
