I don't agree. I will donate to genuine conservatives if either (1) they are first timers with conservative rhetoric and real world experience in a productive occupation, or (2) they have a track record of voting and governing as conservatives. I'm okay if they happen to be republicans too, as long as they are real conservatives.
Come Nov. there will only be 2 choices on the ballots and most Americans are too stupid to know how to write in a name, if they could spell it.
I used to have the same views as you on this so am sympathetic to your points. But I am concerned that if party leadership thinks that money is still coming in they will see no need to change their ineffective ways since there will be no threat to their power. Money is everything in politics so in my opinion that is the only way to force them to re-orient the party. Until that happens the Republicrats will continue to control the party and, worse yet, will be in a position to apply pressure on conservatives to “compromise” with liberals.
Believe me, the first thing that leadership will take notice of is a general lack of money. That gets their attention. Probably the only thing that gets their attention.
