Thanks Angie. My Dr.s office is always like this. They never know what to collect from me and just bill me later. Wonder if this woman realizes this confusion already exists. Not sure how this would extend long lines....it’s faster when you don’t pay and then bill you. I don’t know....I think she was just making up things.....thanks for splainin....:)
I have been a long-time FR lurker and registered only to respond to this comment.
What Rush and I were discussing, and what I apparently failed to adequately emphasize, is that Obamacare regulations and laws require that EVERY entity that sells health products to the public MUST be connected in REAL TIME to the individual’s insurance company in order to meet the law’s requirements regarding OOP caps. Currently that connectivity does not exist and will cost many billions of dollars to create and maintain. Every pharmacy, medical equipment store, psychiatric office, etc. MUST have real time capabilities in order to make this legislative fiasco begin to function according to law.
Your physician may bill you but your pharmacy isn’t going to allow anyone to walk out of the store with a bottle of medication worth several hundred dollars until the pharmacy (or other product provider) gets from the patient every dime the patient owes for that prescription or product.
While an individual provider’s business process may not be able to determine patient responsibility amounts today, that has nothing to do with the point-of-sale issue discussed earlier today. Your doctor is willing to bill you. I guarantee your pharmacy is NOT willing to bill you.
I don’t appreciate the suggestion that I made anything up today. I have worked in this field for many years and know in intimate detail that of which I speak. Furthermore, in the three years that I have discussed the practical impacts of Obamacare with Rush on live radio, my observations and explanations have been repeatedly demonstrated correct through both news reports and documentation shared with Rush and his staff. Rush would not give me the time of day if he had received information that showed me to be a liar or whatever.
The next time I speak with Rush I will take more care to make these complex topics more basic.
