Bright (officially) launches campaign for US Senate (SC)

State Sen. Lee Bright officially announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate during a teleconference Tuesday.

Bright has been vocal about considering a run against two-term incumbent Sen. Lindsey Graham for months.

“I have looked at the record of Sen. Graham, and I feel like it's time for a change,” Bright said.

During the conference, Bright touted his voting record during five years in the state senate — a voting history he stated has been commended by conservative leadership and organizations. As a U.S. senator, Bright said he would continue to campaign for an individual's rights to own firearms and an anti-abortion agenda. Bright said he would fight against high taxes and a powerful IRS.

“I think it's time South Carolinians have someone to represent South Carolina and the conservative values of the state,” Bright said.

Bright criticized Graham for his role in creating the immigration reform bill currently in Congress by saying it amounts to “amnesty” and would create a “permanent underclass.” He also said the incumbent was taking advice from Democrats on how to win Republican elections.

Bright also accused Graham of “community organizing for the Muslim Brotherhood,” during his recent trip to Egypt, instead of being at home working on the problems of his constituents.

As an Ohio voter,

but ... you've already previously given me 'permission' to post ....

why are you pumping one challenger to Graham in South Carolina and slamming another challenger.

Your definitions of 'pumping' and 'slamming' are way different than mine. Try decaf. You seem very emotional.

Does your screen name refer to the cross of Jesus Christ or to some other cross?

Haha. Very Alinsky-like. This is NOT about me. As I placed on my FR homepage awhile back ...

RE: my screenname - when I joined, the only thing I thought I would ever post about was Terri Schiavo. Silly me. Politics brings out the little devil in me I guess. I did ask the Mods to change it to Iseektobeaservantofthecrossbutfaildaily. Still waiting.

Well, you and I can agree about Terri Schiavo.

I’ll admit my mistake when I see it happen.

Don’t think it’s going to happen.

I tend to agree with you that Bright could be another Akin in the makin'. But fortunately if he is the nominee I don't think that even that could cost the South Carolina Senate seat. The Dems just don't have a strong candidate to oppose whoever the GOP runs. Remember the Democrats have to find two candidates - one for Graham's seat and one for the special currently held by Tim Scott. For a party without a deep bench to begin with that's just making their job harder.

(As an aside: Beck has asked the question of candidates for several years. If you get a chance, check out Ted Cruz’s answer.)

Actually, that the Democrats possess a shallow bench is a really good argument against my point.

I’d love to see the Left get slapped on the jaws in SC as hard as we whacked them here in the last election.

Noticed you were not able to answer the question about your absurd attribution of a quote to Lee Bright......

I am not what you call a kook - or a troll........not at all - and you have no idea who you’re speaking with apparently.

Bright is running on a liberty based pro business anti government platform. You are just embarrassed to have been such a sucker for Think Progress propoganda.

The left will always show you who they fear - and they fear Bright ever getting traction, which is why they are attacking him and not paying any attention to any of the others.

The irony of warchild’s infantile and absurd rant is that Bright has a 100% voting record score from The Liberty Alliance, which is more libertarian/conservative than social conservative in SC Senate. He is a devout Christian and involved in church related work, but his political emphasis is classic Reagan conservatism.

Hardly the Huckabee strain at all.....
