PITTSBURGH - Food company H.J. Heinz is eliminating 600 jobs across the U.S. and in Canada, including 350 in Pittsburgh.
The company was sold in June and the layoffs were the result of a review of operations, spokesman Michael Mullen said.
Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway and the Brazilian investment firm 3G Capital bought the company in a $23.3 billion deal. Bernardo Hees was named Heinz's new CEO. He took over from William Johnson, who received a golden parachute of $56 million, in addition to $156.7 million in vested stock and deferred compensation he accrued over his career.

I don’t care what the nuts say: Heinz ketchup is so good, it defines the term “ketchup.”
Buffet doesnt like profit...,,, yet lays off employees. Buffet wants more taxes but lays off employees.
Is there ANYONE out there willing to point this out to the low information crowd?
the best.....love Heinz 57

I was a Heinz ketchup fan, until John Kerry. Then I switched to Hunts, and found that Hunts tastes much better, and is cheaper. So, I’ll never use Heinz again.
I refuse to buy it - I use Hunts. I don’t buy anything Heinz.
Oh, no! Does that mean Kerry won’t get a new yatch this year?

Lefties like Buffett are forever talking about "jobs" and a "living wage". Then, they take over companies and fire employees.
enjoying food > feeble political gesture
It’s not just political. it’s personal.
I’m intrigued.
How has your life been directly (and I mean DIRECTLY, please) affected by Heinz ketchup?
Lea & Perrins?!?!
Arrrgh, so it isn’t so!
You believed the Free Republic myth
The CEO who left was a solid Republican and reasonably conservative
He was interviewed several times by Cavuto and put the lie to the near universal acceptance of the myth on Free Republic
Free Republic didn’t tell me that Hunts ketchup tastes better.
