'Duck Dynasty' star reportedly eyed by Republicans as potential House candidate

Does "Duck Dynasty" star Willie Robertson have his sights on Congress?

According to a new report, Republican strategists are suddenly interested in recruiting Robertson to run for an open congressional seat in Louisiana. The speculation follows GOP Rep. Rodney Alexander announcing his retirement from Congress last week, as a result of his frustration with Washington gridlock.

A special election to fill the seat is scheduled for Oct. 19.

The bearded, 41-year-old Robertson co-stars in the hit A&E reality show and is a self-described “redneck millionaire.”

A Pentacostal in elected government office?
I’d like to see it but somehow I don’t think it will occur.

I just remembered why I hate beards like that. I was standing next to a grubby guy with a long unkempt beard and a bug crawled out of his beard.

Thanks for bring that memory back! NOT! :)

Same? Not by a long shot. Which Aligator show promotes a belief in God and Family over business success. Every episode of DD ends with the extended family gathered together for a meal and the accompanying prayer.

Sadly, any man smart enough to make a duck call is also smart enough to stay the heck out of the swamp that is U.S. politics.

Love DD. at first I thought they’d be ok if they trimmed those beards, but not now. It’s part of who they are. Anyone who ends their show sitting down at dinner with family and thanking God for all their blessings is ok with me.

I love the show. There's always a moral. They pray over dinner at the end of each episode. They all seem like good people.

Willie, however, seems like a luke-warm conservative at best.

We have only watched it once and didn't find it very funny. They were catching frogs for a cooking video instead of making duck calls for an order. Nothing funny about that. We will give it another try.

I notice that the majority of time they are trying to get out of working but that is probably staged for the show. It is staged but incredibly funny at times. And they eat off the land....frogs, squirrels, you name it. Not a part of the lifestyle I could embrace.

I guess when you grow up dirt poor in the South and eating what you catch is all you’ve got, you adapt. Jase has said the most fun in life is catching frogs. I say to each his own.
