It appears that this situation will not resolve itself and that the government will eventually have to ban the Muslim Brotherhood again. This would necessitate throwing thousands of people in jail for their political beliefs.

Nassar, Sadat and Mubarak all figured that out. I'm confident that whomever the military picks as "interim president" won't take long to figure it out either.
Yeah, it is sad to imprison people for their political beliefs. But when those beliefs include killing or subjugating all those who don't think like them, is there really a more humane alternative?
