However elected, Morsi & the Muslim Brotherhood put Egypt into a total mess in less than one year. The people rejected Morsi and asked the Army to take over. The Muslim Brotherhood had the invitation to join the new government, but said no and had its supporters do violence.
The Army gave fair notice the mass demonstrations & violence had to end. The MB ignored the warning. The Army cracked down - the demonstrators fought instead of dispersing - that’s how the deaths occurred - more the fault of the MB instead of the Army.
