Four more F-16 fighter jets left the U.S. on Thursday headed for Egypt as part of a foreign aid package that has generated controversy given the political upheaval in the Mideast country.

Critics say the military aid should stop because the president Egyptians elected last year has led the Muslim Brotherhood, called President Obama liar and urged that hatred of Jews be instilled in children.

A source who works on the naval air base in Fort Worth, Texas, confirmed to FoxNews.com the departure of the state-of-the-art fighter planes. The new shipment brings the total number of F-16 jets given to Egypt this year to 12.

Eight more F-16s will be given to the Egyptian government before the end of the year as part of a billion-dollar foreign aid deal signed in 2010 with then-Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, a longtime U.S. ally. The U.S. also will send 200 Abrams tanks.

Critics, including several in Congress, say it doesn't make sense to follow through with the package. While current Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi has toned down his rhetoric since his election last summer, in 2010 Morsi attacked Obama for supporting Israel.

This is from a few months ago, but given that the Egytptian military has just murdered hundreds of innocent, unarmed civilians, I think it's notable that Obama gave military aid to such a government.

I like the part about; "generated controversy"

Nothing is going to be done to correct wrongs, but they by God are going to talk about it !

You know, if the military uses them against the MB, it may be a good investment. They might inadvertently protect a Christian or Coptic or two.

You are right. The only play in Egypt is the military although I doubt the Christians will survive the onslaught of the MB even if diminished.

The reports I have read, say the Muslim Brotherhood is using arms and bombs against other Egyptians and the military.

The military is trying to protect Egyptian citizens from the Muslim Brotherhood.

The way Islamists protest is by embedding gunmen in the crowd who then fire at cops to see if they dare to brave the bad PR from firing on ostensibly peaceful demonstrators. GI’s encountered a lot of this kind of thing in Iraq, and took casualties because of it.

Exactly. The Egyptian military is our ally. They’ve been helping Israel with terrorists in the Sinai too. The more muslims they kill the better off we all are.

We shouldn’t be giving fighters and tanks to either side.

If the people killed were rock-throwing Islamists, then they were neither innocent, nor unarmed. The only hope for long-lasting stability is to kill lots more Islamists.

Egypt and Syria are finally doing the work we should have started in earnest on 9/12/2001. I wish them nothing but good luck and godspeed.
