NJ governor signs ban on gay conversion therapy
OneNewsNow.com ^ | 19 Aug 13 | Associated Press

Gov. Chris Christie signed a bill Monday barring licensed therapists from trying to turn gay teenagers straight, making New Jersey the second state to ban so-called conversion therapy, along with California.

The bill passed both houses of the New Jersey Legislature with bipartisan support in June. Assemblyman Tim Eustace, who sponsored the bill and is openly gay, described the therapy as "an insidious form of child abuse."

In a note accompanying the bill, Christie said he believes people are born gay and that homosexuality is not a sin. That view is inconsistent with his Catholic faith, which teaches that homosexual acts are sins. - See more at: http://www.onenewsnow.com/ap/politics/nj-governor-signs-ban-on-gay-conversion-therapy#.UhJxpU7D8eE

Look out – it’s coming your way soon

Charlie Butts August 19, 2013 (OneNewsNow)

Greg Quinlan of Parents and Friends of ExGays & Gays and the New Jersey Family Policy Council reacts to the news that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has signed a bill banning reparative therapy for people with same-gender attractions.

Quinlan, Greg (NJ Family First)“He's just put himself in every living room and every family conversation to ban therapy that has no basis to be banned,” Quinlan tells OneNewsNow. “There is no peer-reviewed study saying that this is harmful to youth. During testimony we heard incredible, outright lies about the danger and damage of this therapy, all of it refuted and proven to be false.” Regardless, the governor signed the measure that effectively takes away the rights of parents and counselors to provide the help.

According to Quinlan, people can expect that the governor's actions will simply embolden homosexual activists to do more.

“So as they've tried in the ultra-‘Blue’ states of California and New Jersey, they're doing this in Massachusetts. It's been introduced in New York and Pennsylvania,” he notes.

“It will be coming to other states - so be on the lookout everyone. It's coming your way: invasion of parental rights and authority to make sure that all objections to homosexual behavior are stopped.”

Christie said he believes people are born gay and that homosexuality is not a sin.

I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree on that point. Glad I don't live in New Jersey.

False dichotomy.

It is hard to reason with idiots who make up their own facts as they go along.

I can’t believe this guy gets support from so-called republicans.

I really don't care if a person is a homosexual, but it's actions like this that make my blood boil.

You can't deprive someone of treatment that wants treatment!

That view is inconsistent with his Catholic faith, which teaches that homosexual acts are sins.

More importantly, Christie's view is contrary to Holy Scripture (see Romans 1-2, e.g.). Homosexual behavior is also contrary to nature and reason.

The urge to consider homicide upon others may also be a genetic trait, yet, the overt exercise of that trait is going to get the poor genetically twisted individual into trouble.

There is no sin in being predisposed to a certain cast of mind. What makes that urge a sin is to act upon it, especially as it may cause undue harm when such action is directed at an unwilling or unsuspecting individual.

In each instance, the moral strength NOT to simply follow the predisposition is a sign of great intestinal fortitude and a supreme test of one’s worthiness as a human being.
