Quite the conundrum. Is he or is he not naturalized?

He is absolutely not naturalized. He is a U.S. citizen because his mother was a U.S. citizen, thus a natural born citizen.

Naturalized means he had no claim on U.S. citizenship at birth either by parent or place of birth and went through the lengthy process to become an American.

Where is it stated in USA documents that citizenship is dependent on only one parent?

What happened when his Cuban born father became an Americn citizen AFTER Ted was born ???

Was Ted’s name included in his father;s naturalization as a minor child in need of naturalization also ???

Ted would not have gone through the naturalizatio n process himself as he may have still been a minor but his father would have sworn alleigence for him in his place...

Has anyone checked that possibility ???

When you become an American citizen your under aged children can be included too..

Any children already adults (over 18) at that time get naturalized on their own in their own right etc..

How old was Ted when his Dad became a US citizen ???

Plus I dont believe for a minute that Ted would not know exactly what his status or actual citizenship was..

Too be in the US Senate he would have had to undergo strict security clearances for a start..

His Canadian/American dual citizenship would have been discovered...

The question to be answered in much of the discussions is what is the prevailing dominance, the mother or the father, as to citizenship. For me personally I go with what I believe the Founders intended in the Constitution i.e. both parents must be citizens.

Whileall Natural born citizens are born citizens! Not all born citizens areNatural Born Citizens. This is especially true in Cruz’s quality of birth. he lacks the pedigree of having been born on US soil and having a US citizen father. a born citizen certainly because of his US citizen mother, but not a NBC because of his Canadian birth to a non US citizen father.

It’s a sad state of affairs when our best Conservative spokesmen don’t meet the bare minimum requirements for POTUS of NBC.

Are you claiming ‘natural’ born citizen is only if the mother or perhaps in some other case only the father is a USA citizen? In either case what happens to the other parent’s rights to/of parentage? This is besides questions of being actually born and a resident for a few years a child in the foreign country of birth. I am just waiting for Morsi the deposed President of Egypt to come back and with Obama’s blessing and help promote either of his two sons actually born in the USA for POTUSA. With all the Muslims in the USA and questionable access to voting one of the sons might even be elected. Such are the vicissitudes of departing from the intentions of the Founders who were certainly aware in writings of such possibilities.
