Retailer Dick's Sporting Goods misses estimates, shares fall (stopped carrying AR's)
Reuters ^

Aug 20 (Reuters) - Dick's Sporting Goods Inc reported lower-than-expected quarterly results as fewer customers visited its stores due to cooler and wetter weather and weakness in consumer spending.

Shares of the company, which sells footwear, apparel and camping gear, fell 5 percent to $48.25 in premarket trading.

Consumers have tightened spending amid higher payroll taxes and gasoline prices and a slowing job market. A host of retailers from Macy's Inc to Wal-Mart Stores Inc have reported tepid sales for the latest quarter.

Yeah, good luck asking to look for a gun there. It’s like they walk out to the back and never come back.

All the while you and I know their Chinese clothing is made in heavily guarded communist chinese sweatshops.

They are Chinese controled and hypocrites.

Bass Pro Shops does not have AR’s listed on their website either.

They don't list their entire inventory online.

Dicks bought out Galyans and then got rid of guns and other huting and fishing gear. They do have plenty of sports shoes and those stupid shirts with sports teams logos on them.

How about listing a single AR?

Why would they not list them?

Correction!!!

It isn’t just because they stopped “selling ARs”!

It is because they wouldn’t deliver ARs already bought and paid for!

I believe some folks even had problems getting their money back!!

I spend plenty on sporting good, don’t shop at Dicks anymore even though its the closest sporting goods store to my house. Spent $1,000 on a safe and $3,000 on guns this year. They got zero. Hope they enjoy the PC nonsense.

$4,000

How many sports bras is that? 160 or so?

Now multiply that by tens of thousands of like minded individuals. Good luck making that up.

I cut up my Dick’s Rewards card which I had on my keychain the day they made their decision to stop carrying AR’s.

Bingo! Galyans was a great sporting goods store. Lots and lots of camping, fishing and shooting hardware. Their camping area always had about a dozen tents set up with accessories so you could actuall see what you were getting. They also had a huge selection of light weight backpacking equipment like stoves, food, etc.

Dicks is nothing more than a clothing store with a few Coleman posters on the second floor.

Cabela’s for me. Or MidwayUSA. Two of the strongest 2A supporters.

If you're in the upper midwest, Scheel's is another great choice. Strong 2A supporters. Their new store in my hometown has statues of 4 presidents out front: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Reagan. Awesome.

I note that a new FIELD AND STREAM store (Cranberry Township) which just opened in Dick's backyard is doing very well.

The Field and Stream is Dick's. F and S is Dick's beard for the 2A crowd they alienated.

I miss Galyans but we do have a Gander Mountain now in Greenwood, IN, so not all is bad. I haven’t been in Dicks in over 5 years.

Dick’s made a political decision on gun sales and it turned out to be a rotten business decision. Oh well........

Now it is “wet weather” which led to the fall in sales. Doesn’t Cabela’s experience the same weather patterns? And if so, why are there sales way up?

Cautious consumers, wet weather cloud Dick’s Sporting outlook

Too little. Too late.

2A supporters cannot be fooled by fair weather friends of the 2A. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
