Well then, the average citizen needs to get used to it.
Those that find a situation hostile have a responsibility to adapt to the situation. Yes, even the snail darter, spotted owl, Mexican Grey Wolf, prairie dogs, prairie chickens and hundreds of other critters.
“I am a staunch 2nd Amendment supporter and defender, I just think this is the wrong way to go about educating the average Joe Blow who knows little to nothing about our Constitutional Rights, where they come from and why they are so important.”
I understand what you are saying but part of the process is to get them accustomed to seeing an ARs in the hands of law abiding citizens without anything bad happening. Its a de-sensitization process.
I’ll confess that where I grew up as far as I knew the only people who had guns were criminals. I remember driving home early one morning and saw a guy carrying a rifle into a house. Back then that was a shock to me. When I moved to TN I met a group of guys who patiently introduced me to guns and shooting. I was instantly hooked and have been for 40 years. The first step is to get people used to seeing guns outside their comfort zone. Such as gun owners out of the closet and shopping at Walmart.
Child molesting teachers used to frighten people too, now everyone has gotten use to it.
LOL...maybe I am stuck in the 80's...I try to look at things with a common sense approach.
I guess I forget that common sense isn't so common anymore ;(
“I hear what you are saying but homos aren’t persuading any one to their cause other than the intimidated wussy politicians.”
Wow! You sure that’s what you wnated to say!? They have made HUGH (/s) inroads in almost all facets of society because of the in-your-face tactics. Time to bring peaceful law-abiding gunowners into the public eye as well.
Nor have they been out to West Texas, many parts of wooded East and Central Texas and many parts of Southwest Texas. Some folks need to see how the rest of Texans live. Heck, even where I live (just 45 miles North of Houston) I sometimes open carry w/o incident. It isn't all that unusual.
Common sense took the last train for the coast...back when there were still trains. There’s not much that passes for it these days.
Funny thing about that is In Mayberry this wouldn't have been an issue!
In the early 70's I lived in Thousand Oaks California. As a kid my Dad and I would walk down our street carrying .22 rifles walking out to the hills to go plinking and squirrel shooting.
If that's Mayberry, I'll take it any day!
Spot on. They have "gotten used to" every sick thing the opposition dishes out. Let them get used to real America all over again.
Absolutely agree 1000%
I just got the impression that this guy was out to provoke negative reaction/panic.
That's what I disagree with.
Holder says they have to change the way people think about guns, we need to do the same. But it takes time.
As I'm writing this I am listening to a report of an office involved shooting in Henderson.
Is there any wonder why some people might freak out at a guy with an AR 15 strapped on his back and might panic? Right or wrong, this is where we're at today.
Thank you for a compelling/polite argument. It's amazing to see some here who resort to accusations because one questions the method to reach the same goal...all the while touting their conservative credentials.
Exactly, and if I was some leftist liberal really looking to do damage to the gun rights cause, this is exactly what I would do.
And if you can get folks in Texas to panic over open carry of rifles, then imagine what you can do in blue states?
Yeah, it's what I wanted to say. Homos don't persuade they intimidate weak people.
Most of their in roads have been made on several fronts, indoctrinating children, by intimidating politicians and infiltrating media.
No person with common sense is persuaded to their agenda.
Good point.
What point was he trying to make?....I can?
You'd have thought Wal-Mart, given their enormous purchasing power, would be the one retailer would could go to the risk-adverse ammo industry and say "by date X in the future these shelves will be full of you are out of here".
Perhaps it was his intention, but he just helped the anti-gun lobby a lot.
What a complete jerk!
Next you are going to be spouting the “blood in the streets” line...
Get over it.
Back at you...
No. He isn't. That is YOUR opinion. I see him as USING his Rights, something you apparently don't like him doing.
Are you on Bloomberg's mailing list by any chance?
