full title.........Revealed: How the Obamas came to buy their new $2,300 dog Sunny - and how she was 'born from frozen sperm'

Sunny the Portuguese water dog - the latest addition to the Obama family – was bought from a breeder in Michigan for around $2,300 and seems have been born though frozen sperm, MailOnline can reveal today.

Sunny was introduced to the world earlier this week as a new sister for Bo and the Obama girls through pictures posted on the White House blog but few details about where she came from - apart from saying Sunny was born in June in Michigan.

MailOnline tracked down Sunny’s birthplace to Amy Lane in Attica, Michigan. Mrs Lane runs a farm and a Portuguese puppy breeding center there called Allegiance PWDs.

Who paid for the dog, and who paid the airfare to get her to the white hut??

And, is she house trained, or will the “black help” in the white hut be forced to clean up the mess dropped by the emperors new pet??

Wow. An article on WND about nothing of substance. What a surprise.

Litters are bred with frozen and chilled semen all the time, and have been for years. And the amount they paid for a pup is not out of line for well-bred dogs. Heck it is a middle of the road price for some German Shepherd Dog bloodlines...

Nothing here to see, no matter what your politics.

I can just imagine the outrage had Bush bought a $2,300 dog when so many people can't even find a job because of Obama and his policies. And the Obama's damned sure aren't going to miss a vacation, White house dinner (even though it's closed to us peons) or trip to play whenever possible.

I won't even start on the scandals which make Nixon look like an amateur!

Very apt.

If he could have done ONE thing right in his Presidency, he would have given a HUGE boost and a whole lot of hope and change to all the wonderful dogs and cats left ‘languishing’ in shelters. All he needed to do was take the family and Bo and fill out an application to ADOPT a dog from one of the thousands of rescues, in this country (and all over the world, actually)......and, in doing that, he would have given a big pat on the back to all of those who volunteer to do God’s work, bringing goodness to the lives of the hundreds of thousands of animals who, through no fault of their own, end up that way.....

I was thinking “Sunny” = “Sonny” as in “Junior” as in “I’m a narcissistic d-bag who names his pets after himself.”

While they are very good companions to people who understand what they need, Portuguese Water Dogs are not for everyone. Because of their intelligence and working drive, they require regular intensive exercise as well as mental challenges. They are gentle and patient — but not “couch potatoes”, and boredom may cause them to become destructive.

The Portuguese Water Dog is a fairly rare breed; only 36 Portuguese Water Dogs were entered for Britain’s Crufts competition in 2013.

Elena Gretch, a dog trainer and owner of two Portuguese water dogs] worries that if the Obamas choose the breed, puppy mills will sprout up. The dogs cost $1,800 to $2,500 and aren’t as common as other popular breeds. They’re prone to hip dysplasia, so finding a good breeder is important, she said, and the dogs don’t often end up in shelters for adoption.

The dogs also require a lot of attention, grooming and outdoor exercise. “It’s agile, it’s a great swimmer, it loves to be outdoors,” said Gretch, founder of the pet care and training service It’s A Dog’s Life in New York City.

But Portuguese water dogs are usually not great for first-time dog owners, said Freeman, because it takes experience to train them.

“These are dogs that if you don’t keep them busy, they will be busy and do something you don’t want them to do,” he said.

Try pricing French Bulldogs. Due to perverse breeding practices they have to be artificially inseminated and need caesarian births. Prices start at about $2,500 and go north of $3,500. Of course if you are ever given a “free” cat or dog and end up spending north of $2,000 for a medical problem, you know how irrelevant the base price is. Now I have two dogs, one of whom is a rescue Pitador and the other of whom is a GreatDane, whose total combined weight is 195 lb. Special large breed dog food runs about $150.00/month. I’ve just got (HORRORS!!) to give the Mahdi and Moochelle a pass on this one.

What are you complaining about???? Didn’t Obambi make a promise to do such before Bo???? That’s all that’s required of him.

I have a theory on the new puppy situation. Remember anytime Obama’s numbers would drop and you would immediately see a cute photo of of his young girls on an ice cream run with daddy obama. Now that the girls are typical surly/frowning almost 6ft teens they no longer can be trotted out on cue to pump up dads numbers with the low info emotional voters. So...get a puppy!
