I have only been to New York City a couple of times, but found regular working people there to be down-to-earth and helpful. One friend-of-a-friend spent 45 minutes educating me on subway lines, points of interest, how to avoid looking like a tourist. She even drew an excellent map. Another one let me spend the night at her place, and a third one met me and my travel buddy at a restaurant and spent the evening telling us stories about the Brooklyn district attorneys’ office.
I’ve met good people from New Jersey, too.
Freepers I’ve met from the Tri-State Chapter (NY NJ CT) are some of the most intelligent and interesting folks you could encounter.
I’ve lived in New Jersey and NY, and have been in NYC a thousand times.
I’m a native of NC, a state overrun with Yankees from NJ and NY.
We get only losers here, who failed in their home states (or Florida—and are here for their third failure in life), and their behavior gives both states a bad name.
The natives who stay home, I found to be extremely nice people, if a little hard on the ears.
And the “rudeness” of NY’ers is briskness; they’re always in a hurry.
