Amen,
Been to many EAA Air Adventures - camped in the North 40 with my 310. Got video of Paul driving around in his chopped red VW.

We’ve taken several friends and family to EAA over the years. Rode in the Ford Tri-Motor. Know one of the men who helped restore it. Also took neighbor’s children to Young Eagles for their first flight. Wonderful experience!

He was a 30 year Air Force veteran as well, serving in WWII and Korea.
He is the only man in the armed forces to attain all seven aviation wings the military offered and did so without having the benefit of military aviation training.

God Bless him.
I'll miss seeing him driving around in the open VW bug during Airventure.

IIRC, Poberezny was a member of the three-plane aerobatic team that flew matched Pitts specials -- but I'm not sure of the team's name. (Red Devils?)
Self correction: that was TOM Poberezny who flew with Hilliard & Soucy as the Red Devils. First team I ever saw who performed simultaneous, synchronized lomcevaks in tight 3-plane formation...

RIP Paul Poberezny.
I met Paul in Oshkosh back around 1974 (IIRC). That was the same Fly-In where I met Ken Rand(of KR-1 and KR-2 fame) and Burt Rutan (Vari Viggen and several other famous composite aircraft).
The Experimental Aircraft Association, that's quite a legacy, Paul!

Helluva guy. Too many folks like this passing away these days...
To: taildragger
Truly a sad loss.
From the brief, and nicely-written piece
Paul Poberezny often said that there was not a day that went by that he didn't say the word "airplane." His flight experiences began as a high school student and continued through service in World War II and the Korean conflict. Between the wars, he began his hands-on approach to aircraft design and building that would direct his future and his legacy
Paul Poberezny's life and career was a shining example of vision, self-reliance, and leadership.

My parents go to Oshkosh every single year. It’s like going to Disney World for my stepdad. Last year they took my oldest, who was 14 at the time. She had a blast. In the next couple of years, they will take my oldest son, who turns 11 in two weeks. Family traditions... ;)
