Less then a mile, of a crow’s flight, from Mr. and Mrs. Nowiki’s home, my grandparents lived. They had a few acres they made into a little farm, that sustained them and their nine children. They were productive members of their community, veterans who gave life and limb to the country they immigrated to.

In their very late eighties, the state came in and condemned their property for eminent domain. They were forced to sell because they didn’t have the means or will to fight the PTB. They moved and both of them were dead within two years of that unplanned, unanticipated uprooting.

My point is, the elderly have habits. And good, bad or indifferent, these habits got them to where they are. I would gamble that if the Nowikis were forced to move, that would kill them long before the cigarettes and smoke.

The town fathers of Newington are not all insane Liberals, I pray that a compromise will be found. The freedom that Mr. Nowiki fought so bravely for is being usurped by people who have no sense of history, want to *hall monitor* the world to their liking....they probably have neither served or produced anything worthwhile for this country.

Even a family can turn on you: http://www.uproxx.com/webculture/2013/06/wwii-vet-grandpa-jack-potter-is-still-being-evicted-from-his-home/
