Cory Booker At The March On Washington: "The Dream Still Demands"

Newark mayor and U.S. Senate candidate Cory Booker gave a stirring address to tens of thousands on the National Mall Saturday at the rally marking the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.

Booker’s five-minute speech focused on what he called his generation’s responsibility to carry on the commitment to justice and equality embodied by Dr. Martin Luther King and his historic “I have a dream” speech.

“Please allow me to speak to those like myself who were not even alive when the March on Washington happened,” he began.

“My father when I was growing up said it very simply,” Booker said. “He used to look at me and say, ‘Boy, don’t you dare walk around here like you hit a triple, ‘cause you were born on third base. You are enjoying freedoms, opportunity, technology, things that were given to you bought by the struggles and the sacrifices and the work of those who came before. Don’t you forget where you come from.”

“‘You drink deeply from wells of freedom and liberty and opportunity you did not dig,’” Booker continued.

Booker cited stagnating wages, increasing child poverty, gun violence, and LGBT discrimination as proof his generation “cannot afford to sit back consuming all our blessings, getting dumb, fat, and happy, thinking that we have achieved freedom,” he said. “The truth of the matter is, the dream still demands, the moral conscious of our country still calls us, that hope still needs heroes.”

“We still have work to do,” he said.

Booker’s trip to the capital comes just two months before he’ll likely make a permanent move to Washington. The New Jersey special election to replace the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg will take place on Oct. 16, and Booker is leading his Republican opponent, former mayor Steve Lonegan, by about 20 points in the polls.

Man, since when did MLK's *deram* take on the homo-pushing theme?

Also, every article I've seen about this *march* keeps saying "tens of thousands" who're attending. Any pics, anywhere of these "tens of thousands"?

...and stop murdering 89-year-old WWII veterans!

Oh, and stop murdering a couple out on a date, raping the girl then bludgeoning both to death for being white!

Oh, and don’t shoot any more babies in the face because the mother wouldn’t surrender her purse.

I can’t help but notice the hypocrisy of the race hustlers and plantation masters words at the “content of character” commemoration

The content of your character leaves much to desired, Mr. Booker.

MLK ISN'T THE ONLY ONE WITH A DREAM

I have a dream that some day in America even an old white WWII hero, or a young white Australian athlete, will be able to safely walk on our
streets without being judged by the color of their skin and slaughtered in cold blood by vicious black-skinned, two-legged feral Sons Of Barack.

You know, every Memorial Day and every Independence Day we watch the concert on the Mall...you know, the ones with the patriotic music hosted by Joe Mantagna and Lt. Dan. And every time I watch I wonder....here we are in a city that is about 90% black and yet maybe 20% (tops) of the audience for this patriotic event is black.

Just a thought as a big deal is made about the coming events in DC......

“We still have work to do,” he said.

Too bad Booker cannot connect the dots. Booker needs to take steps to implement MLK's dream of judging people not by the color of their skin, but the content of their character. Fifty years later black crime has increased, black children are born out of wedlock, we have reverse discrimination against whites, the moral conscious of our country is screaming for help to get back to where we were when people got married to have children, when the law was obeyed, when there were no quotas to discriminate against better qualified candidates for a job.

It is a shame that Cory Booker is our next Senator in the United States Senate. Lonegan was on TV this morning and you just know he doesn’t like being on TV. I think he is too shy. He also talks kinda muffled or something. He will get 38 percent and hopefully can hit the 40 mark. We cannot allow Corey Booker to slaughter Lonegan for an impressive win. The less votes Corey wins by the better.

An unacceptable and fast growing segment (thanks to the “One”, and the justice brothers) of the black society views themselves as victims with entitlement without any self responsibility....perpetual victims if you will.

Just today it was again said that Trayvon Martin was judged not on his character but on his color...nonsense..he was judged on his displayed demeanor and dress. His lack of personal responsibility that was more fully shown by evidence that was not permitted at trial was clearly shown.

If I were asked to describe the black culture as a whole in one word, I would have to say “belligerent”. And each day I find myself more cautious and suspicious and I don’t like having to be that way.

Actually, by chance, I watched the entire Steve Lonegan interview!!! I do not reside in NJ...so I am just getting acquaited with Lonegan!!! He did not appear to be either shy or uncomfortable while being bombarded by hostile questions. Of course this was MSNBC with a panel of moron liberal Obamabots. Objectively IMHO, Lonegan mopped up the floor with the Obamabots!!!

I think he will probably lose the senate race...but he will certainly expose Democrat, Obama worshiper, failed mayor Cory Booker for the phoney, low life he is!!! How anyone that pays taxes in NJ could ever vote for Black Racist Cory Booker escapes me!!! Newark is a cesspool, just as bad, if not worse then Detroit!!! Go figure!!! Best wishes and good luck, Steve!!! Hammer away at Booker and wrap him in Obama mantra.....expose him for what a flim/flam Obamabot man he really is!!!

I really don’t think MLK ever said “I dream of a day when every one is on welfare from birth to the grave”
