And just why would you want to trap them .... just shoot them on sight.

So you can sell them to farmers / slaughter houses for the meat. Plus, shooting on site isn't exactly effective if you are trying to get rid of an entire family of 20 - 50 pigs at a time - you want to get rid of all of them at once, otherwise, in few years, that could result in literally thousands of additional pigs if you don't catch them all.
