The Syrian Islamics want Assad out b/c he accepts Christians (and presumably does not endorse Islamic slaughter of Christians).

Coincidentally (snix), Russia and China (who would veto any UN move against Assad) have rallied behind Gen al-Sisi and denounced the Muslim slaughter of Christans in Egypt.

MILITARY.COM reported that US Pentagon officials declined to give specifics on conversations between DOD's Chuck Hagel and Egyptian Gen al-Sisi....WRT the current Egyptian crisis.

Although the officials would not discuss the specifics of the military-to-military talks, the U.S. would need Gen al-Sisi's approval to move through Egyptian air space if Washington decided to send Marines to aid in the evacuation of U.S. personnel.

READY TO GO About 550 Marines and their tilt-rotor MV-22 Osprey aircraft are at bases in Spain and Italy on standby if they are needed. A Navy Amphibious Ready Group with 4,000 Marines and sailors aboard, led by the helicopter assault ship Kearsarge, was also in the region following completion of the Eager Lion training exercises in Jordan.

Obama figured he was working his magic, sucking-up bigtime in a speech in Cairo----where he apologized for America's historical role in the Middle East. Obama calculatedly set the stage for the Egyptian president's overthrow by the mob.

When the worst-case scenario happened, when Obama's personal choice---Islamist Muslim Brotherhood, Mohamed Morsi, was elected president----Obama sap-happily sent his secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, to Cairo to personally kiss-up to Morsi---(perhaps at that time hatching their plans to destroy Westen civilization in compliance w/ Muslim Brotherhood dictates?).

Obama had calculatedly added a treacherous, ill-advised component to US foreign policy----sucking up to the very people who want to kill Americans and destroy American churches.

Obama was prostrate in obeisance before Muslim leaders---portraying teeming Muslim majorities in Egypt as "victims" of Western colonialism and Cold War policies, then stupidly promoted democracy among conflicting cultures w/ thousands of years of religious and territorial factionalism.

"The relationship between Islam and the West includes centuries of coexistence and cooperation, but also conflict and religious wars," Obama said in the June 2009 speech in Cairo. "More recently, tension has been fed by colonialism that denied rights and opportunities to many Muslims, and a Cold War in which Muslim-majority countries were too often treated as proxies, without regard to their own aspirations."
