In a wide-ranging interview with the Washington Post published Monday, Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) said that his failure to settle down with a "life partner" by this stage in his career has led to speculation that he may be gay.

What matters to me is that Newark is still a big craphole with an international airport. Cory Booker isn’t a celebrity politician because he’s fixed it.

Three of my best friends didn’t get married until their late 40s-early 50s. Two were just too busy making money and having fun, and the third was worried about the possibility of losing half of what he had managed to save up.
All three are married now, and two have little kids, and none of them regrets it (so far).

Cory Booker is 44, single and probably straight but he is able to employ a political Jiu-Jitsu move on any opponents that whisper (or shout) that he is 'gay' by embracing the idea - if not the reality. Twenty years ago, a politician like Booker, accused of engaging in homosexual behavior, would see his career ruined. Today, Booker can use such accusations against the accusers and say 'so what if I am?" and the public will go along with him. This is what we've come to, at least with Democrat politicians.
