Tortoises commonly carry salmonella, so it’s possible to transfer the disease from an infected animal to one that isn’t.


Chickens, lizards, hamburger, eggs all carry salmonella from time to time........you probably have a resident population in your own gut....

No question about it. However, salmonella in turtles is very common - most may carry it. In their case it doesn’t make them sick, but they easily pass it along to other organisms.
