Oh, but this is NOT military related, or else the victims (and their families) would have earned their purple hearts.

So, nope, no military here.

By the way, why did they need a off-base civilian police officer to be the first one to attack him successfully?

Having not served myself, I am only going off what others have stated. The issue is were they in a designated war zone (I can't remember the exact term).

And US military bases are strict gun-free zones. Stuff is under heavy lock and key. Only military and civilian police can legally carry.
