Ted Cruz: Syria, Obamacare ‘tied’
Politico ^ | 8/28/13 5:03 PM EDT | MACKENZIE WEINGER

Posted on 08/28/2013 8:00:39 PM PDT by SoConPubbie

Sen. Ted Cruz on Wednesday tied Obamacare and Syria together, saying the two issues are linked “by an arrogance of this administration.”

The Texas Republican told radio host Rush Limbaugh that it’s clear by the way President Barack Obama and his administration approaches Obamacare and the conflict in Syria that “they don’t believe they’re accountable to the American people.”

“Fundamentally, actually, these two issues, you look at Syria, you look at Obamacare,” Cruz said, according to a transcript on Limbaugh’s site. “They’re tied together. They’re tied together by an arrogance of this administration, that they don’t believe they’re accountable to the American people, and they are going to jam their agenda down the throats of the American people.”

And both cases can be solved in one way, according to Cruz: “The American people have to rise up and hold every elected official accountable.”

“And on both of them, the answer is the same as it was on guns; it’s the same as it is on stopping amnesty, which is the American people have to rise up and hold every elected official accountable, Democrat and Republican,” he added. “Every one of us, including me.”

Limbaugh replied that “the American people ought to have a political party that’s willing to stand up and join them in stopping this, too, and right now, they don’t think they do. They’ve got you, they got [Utah Sen.] Mike Lee, a couple or three others. Everybody else they see is caving.”

(Also on POLITICO: Anti-war Democrats speak up on Syria)

“Well, I agree,” Cruz said. “Sadly, right now, the people who are leading the fight to stop the effort to defund Obamacare are Republicans. It’s not Democrats. That’s a sad state of affairs. I hope it changes. I hope the Republicans stop trying to prevent us from defunding Obamacare and, instead, we come together — and the only way they will is if millions of Americans go to DontFundIt.com, speak up and demand that our elected officials listen to the people.”

As for possibility of military action in Syria, Cruz blasted Obama as “an out-of-control president” who has had an “imperial” and “lawless” presidency.

“Right now, in the U.K., they’re having an emergency session of parliament to consider Syria,” Cruz said. “In Israel the Knesset is considering an emergency session and yet President Obama apparently wants to go to the UN but can’t be bothered to go to United States Congress or the American people and make the case. Look, you know, the authority to declare war rests in Congress, not in an out-of-control president.”

Did you read Daniel Greenfield’s article about the R party? It’s vital. Explains why the GOP sucks. Why they like amnesty. Why they invariably disappoint, are eunuchs, say nice things to get us to vote and then can never stand up for conservative principles.

Of course there are a few good Rs but they can’t do much since the entire party apparatus and elites are rotten to the core.

And Paul is a liberaltarian at heart so that’s that.

And sadly, Cruz is not a NBC so the dems don’t need to pull out anything nefarious, just some of the research that’s been done on FR proving Zero a non-NBC will do.

Agreed, although it is more than enforcing existing laws. We have structural issues that prevent technology talent to come here,as one example. That’s the motivation for the silicon valley types to dump money into this. We have a system built at a time when the when the world economy was radically different and it needs to evolve...in addition to enforcement and border containment. I am with you 100% on no amnesty.

I am actually open to converting illegals here to a legal immigrant status as long as there are no special privileges or ‘path’ to citizenship that doesn’t already exist. It must come with the border control and enforcement first. This is one of those areas where a center right solution would be palatable to me...and I was hoping Rubio would have threaded that needle instead of pushing the left’s bill.

I don't disagree.

And sadly, Cruz is not a NBC so the dems don’t need to pull out anything nefarious, just some of the research that’s been done on FR proving Zero a non-NBC will do. I do disagree.

Which does nothing but put them on the path to citizenship and the eventual destruction of our nation.

Congratulations!

You agree with both the Democrats and GOP-E, that eventual perpetual Democrat Rule is a good thing.

BTW, I don't know how to characterize someone who believes that this is a "center-right" solution. The outcome of Amnesty, in what ever form it takes, has always been the dream of the Marxists, Progressives, and Democrats as they have always known that eventually it would lead to their total control.

Guess who knows the truth about NBC? - TED CRUZ himself, as he should.

And here on FR, SoConPubbie is absolutely correct about the Constitution, the law and the Court NOT defining natural born citizen as having anything to do with being born across a boundary line.

And the controlling law has been cited by FReeper xzins on one of the threads that people with the false view of it have turned into Birther threads. There is firm, unshakable ground to lawfully define NBC as a baby who was defined AT BIRTH as a citizen and not needing later naturalization. Based on either a mother or a father (both not required - read xzins legal citiation) who was clearly an American citizen and met certain age and residency requirements (born across a boundary line NOT controlling, American citizen parent controlling).

It will be happy days when Ted Cruz’s American citizenship at the moment of his birth is VINDICATED as the standing law of the land on the legal meaning of natural born citizenship.

It is vindicated here already thanks to several great FReepers’ work.

But in the end it will shine to the world as brightly as the brightest noonday sun, and will show Ted Cruz knows the truth about his own citizenship, as he should.

“He got rid of his Canadian citizenship”

As far as I’ve seen, he has said he will take legal steps to officially renounce such citizenship IF he finds that he has it. I read where he said his mother once told him he could pursue having Canadian citizenship if he wanted to, he did nothing to pursue it and thought that was the end of the matter.

So first, before he could rid himself of Canadian citizenship he needs to know if he has it, or did he have to pursue it in order to have it? If he does have it and didn’t know because he never tried to go down that road, then he will officially renounce it.

People need to understand that even if he has it, ???, that has no bearing whatsoever on the fact that he has had American citizenship since his birth. He need not renounce it, because it has no affect on anything, but he would choose to renounce it because he never sought it and in his own mind is only an American citizen.

Can we save the 3-year headache we're going to have and just start banning these Cruz birthers now? It isn't rocket surgery. There are two types of citizens: citizens at birth and naturalized citizens. That's it. If you are a citizen at birth, then you are a NBC. Every other criteria is just made-up, personal opinion crap. Next, these people are going to be claiming that anyone born by C-section is ineligible because it wasn't a natural birth. Therefore they aren't 'natural born' citizens.

You know, that's what I'm going to start doing. I'm a 'sectioner.' Anyone running for president has to prove they weren't born by c-section. I want pictures of their mothers' stomachs. I mean, my made-up definition is just as valid as theirs.

Are the numbers going up on that site at all? I signed it last night after seeing a headline that said Rush listeners had so jammed the site that it crashed. Yet the number I saw then - 800,000-something - seems awfully close to what I thought I remembered Rush’s guest mentioning that they already had at that point (was Cruz the only guest he had on yesterday? I only caught a snippet while I was driving a couple miles). And the number there now is 836,186. This seems crazy for a site that got so much traffic it crashed. I hope the site is not being attacked by Obama’s thugs so that it “loses” signatures.

Doesn’t a legal question deserve a legal answer? How can the courts get away with saying that they don’t have to rule on the definition of “natural born citizen” because it’s nobody’s business? This is absolutely crazy. I have no idea what the courts will come up with if they ever address the issue, but dangling the issue in front of the public and saying they refuse to give us an answer is more pathetic than taunting a Downs Syndrome baby. Why are we putting up with this crap from our judiciary? If they won’t do their jobs, THEY need to be defunded!

If you have a problem with those who believe NBC means persons born on US soil to 2 US citizen parents, then what you should be doing is what we ALL should be doing: insisting that the courts do their frickin’ jobs and give us a legal answer to the question we have to be asking ourselves EVERY TIME WE GO IN THE VOTING BOOTH TO VOTE FOR PRESIDENT!!! It is ABSOLUTELY our business, and this playing chicken with the Constitution and the whole electoral process stinks worse than chicken sh!t.

It is possible by US law to renounce one’s citizenship. I assume it’s the same in Canada.

I think US law also has (and I could be wrong about this) an “assumption of renunciation” for someone who is born overseas, never affirms his US citizenship, acquires citizenship in another country, and passes a certain age.

You can renounce, and I think you can be assumed to have renounced if certain conditions are met.

When Rush first mentioned the website, and repeated it a few times, there were something like 748,000 signatures. Within 10 minutes, that number increased to 771,977 - or about 23,977 signatures.

Right now, it's up to 837,500. So, since Rush broadcast the website, it's increased by about 89,580 (roughly).

I imagine Rush will mention the website, again, when he talks about how the site crashed :)
