Ted Cruz: Syria, Obamacare ‘tied’
Politico ^ | 8/28/13 5:03 PM EDT | MACKENZIE WEINGER

Posted on 08/28/2013 8:00:39 PM PDT by SoConPubbie

Sen. Ted Cruz on Wednesday tied Obamacare and Syria together, saying the two issues are linked “by an arrogance of this administration.”

The Texas Republican told radio host Rush Limbaugh that it’s clear by the way President Barack Obama and his administration approaches Obamacare and the conflict in Syria that “they don’t believe they’re accountable to the American people.”

“Fundamentally, actually, these two issues, you look at Syria, you look at Obamacare,” Cruz said, according to a transcript on Limbaugh’s site. “They’re tied together. They’re tied together by an arrogance of this administration, that they don’t believe they’re accountable to the American people, and they are going to jam their agenda down the throats of the American people.”

And both cases can be solved in one way, according to Cruz: “The American people have to rise up and hold every elected official accountable.”

“And on both of them, the answer is the same as it was on guns; it’s the same as it is on stopping amnesty, which is the American people have to rise up and hold every elected official accountable, Democrat and Republican,” he added. “Every one of us, including me.”

Limbaugh replied that “the American people ought to have a political party that’s willing to stand up and join them in stopping this, too, and right now, they don’t think they do. They’ve got you, they got [Utah Sen.] Mike Lee, a couple or three others. Everybody else they see is caving.”

(Also on POLITICO: Anti-war Democrats speak up on Syria)

“Well, I agree,” Cruz said. “Sadly, right now, the people who are leading the fight to stop the effort to defund Obamacare are Republicans. It’s not Democrats. That’s a sad state of affairs. I hope it changes. I hope the Republicans stop trying to prevent us from defunding Obamacare and, instead, we come together — and the only way they will is if millions of Americans go to DontFundIt.com, speak up and demand that our elected officials listen to the people.”

As for possibility of military action in Syria, Cruz blasted Obama as “an out-of-control president” who has had an “imperial” and “lawless” presidency.

“Right now, in the U.K., they’re having an emergency session of parliament to consider Syria,” Cruz said. “In Israel the Knesset is considering an emergency session and yet President Obama apparently wants to go to the UN but can’t be bothered to go to United States Congress or the American people and make the case. Look, you know, the authority to declare war rests in Congress, not in an out-of-control president.”

The numbers have been rising at a much higher rate over the last week or so. Average gain is bout 50,000 per day. Yesterday saw a 40,000 jump in about three hours...after Ted Cruz was on the Ruch Limbaugh show!!! I think (IMHO), Cruz, Lee and company have been slowly cranking uo the campaign across the board, day by day!!! It is going to be quite successful. I suspect it will go over 1,000,000 signatures and endorsements before the coming weekend ends!!!

Sign & Endorse the Lee/Cruz/Palin/Rubio/Paul, Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, etc., etc., “Defund Obamacare” petition, immediately....TODAY

Potty mouth? I am sorry that the correct medical term offends you. It is your narrow mind that applies the vulgarity to it. The only waste of bandwidth are pretend constitutional scholars making up definitions to attack a true conservative. Their hidden agenda is the only serious issue here, not Cruz’s eligibility.

You’re mocking a serious issue: WHY DO THE COURTS INSIST THAT IT IS NOT OUR BUSINESS WHETHER THE CHOICES WE HAVE TO VOTE FOR IN CRITICAL PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS ARE EVEN CONSTITUTIONALLY ELIGIBLE?

Are you saying that the courts can deliberately keep us ignorant of matters we NEED to know about, in order to uphold the Constitution in the voting booth? Are you agreeing with the courts that it’s none of your business, to know whether the person you’re considering voting for could be kicked out if he was elected?

Vaginal birth, epesiotomy stitches, duration of labor, etc - that’s all stuff that only matters to the NSA and the thugs Obama is giving access to our medical records, and only for bribery and tabloid purposes much like Obama used to get his opponent’s divorce records and sexual allegations unsealed in order to win an election. Those are not legal issues and you know it. You bring that up only to mock what IS a serious issue - what the Founding Fathers meant when they said that only a “natural born citizen” shall be eligible to hold the office of President or Vice President.

I call you a potty mouth because you totally ignored what we both knew was the legal question and focused in on the process of giving birth which is irrelevant. I’ve given birth 6 times; I use the technical terminology regularly and have no embarrassment about it. When a radiologist focuses in on a breast for a mammogram there is nothing filthy about it. When somebody pretending to talk the law regarding cancer insurance focuses in on a breast when it is irrelevant to the legalities being discussed, it is a potty mouth thing to do.

the dems will instantly find water tight legal and constiutitonal evidence that he is not a NBC since he was born on foreign soil

Good! Maybe we can use that to get rid of ObamaCare and everything else this pResident has done.

. . . but at some point we have to deal with a horribly outdated system and a porous border.

I'd start with a quick path to citizenship for every high school valedictorian coupled with a quick path to deportation for every drug mule.

It makes a catchy slogan. Most of the American people would support it. And Maldef, MeCha, La Raza and every other Brown KKK affiliate would fight it tooth and nail.

The Cato Institute has given the final word on Ted Cruz’s NBC status. Mark Levin in his radio show today, agrees with Ilya Shapiro’s analysis. It is time to close the book on this controversy.

Final word? Ha ha. Constitutional bar disagrees as do millions in the Republic taught what natural born was in middle school.

The Nationality Act of 1940 is the final word. Even with its latest amendments, Cruz’s mother, Eleanor Darragh, fulfilled the necessary requirements by being an U.S. citizen for least 10 years, including five after the age of 14 (something that Stanley Ann may have failed to do). Cruz’s mother gave birth to Ted (actually Rafael Edward) in her thirties after living most of her life in Delaware. I give you this synopsis of the Cato Institute’s determination in case you did not read Ilya Shapiro’s article.

This red herring about Cruz’s NBC status is a diversion from the real problem of Obama’s NBC status: Stanley Ann’s failure to meet the requirements.

Natural born is within the confines of the geographical United States borders. It’s the prevailing view of Constitutional scholars and Constitutional lawyer bar. So let the debates begin and head to SCOTUS. Also, no one knows Zero’s birthplace or parentage.
