He is just waiting for Obama to screw up, which he has been doing since January 2009. It's just a matter of time before Obama paints himself into a box which he has done now.
Anything like that would just give Obama a way to bring his former supporters back into the fold. His current warmongering is eroding his support. Putin took Snowden in after letting Obama squirm and look foolish for just long enough.

At this point, what difference would it make? Obama is going to finish out his second term period. Wish it were otherwise, but let’s be real.
I’m sure Putin can do other things that can/will make Obama’s life very difficult. I think Obama’s mistake is thinking he can treat Putin the same as the likes of McCain and Romney.
