Tennessee hotel named filthiest in the U.S. by TripAdvisor loses defamation suit...

There was nothing dirty — or defamatory — about including a Tennessee hotel on an unflattering list on a travel website because it’s clear the inclusion was based on opinions, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday.

The U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected a bid by the owner of the Grand Resort Hotel and Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., to reinstate a defamation lawsuit against the site TripAdvisor.

They'd doubtless get a pass if they, too, had ducks living there.

Interesting.

Doesn’t say who the owners are.

Indian?

Recently went to a highly touted Trip Advisor motel. When I arrived, under new management, Indian.

The sheets were used.

If Indians own it I don’t go.

No more. Just a different value system when it comes to clean.

Should have called Anthony Melchiorri instead of suing.

Very enlightening. I knew it was bad, but had no idea.

They seem to be taking over the motel industry. We were at a Comfort Inn in W. north Carolina last year and , you guessed it, Indian owned and run.

Around here Mid. Eastern have cornered the Subway franchises.

A few months ago we were in a Holiday Inn in DC area. All Muslim. The women weren't wearing burkas but all the men had those little embroidered white skull caps.

Actually, it did disclose the owner as Kenneth M. Seaton. Apparently, he is of questionable character. A quick google reveals bad things.

I wish I had not clicked on the sight you posted. The dogs eating the corpses could have came out of a horror movie.

A friend spent 2 weeks in India on a study abroad program until she had to come home from unstoppable diarrhea and vomiting and the only toilets was a random hole.

It’s a sad situation over there, but even I do not understand how an evolved people want to bath in a river where there are LITERALLY dead humans and animals floating by.

Just a different value system when it comes to clean.

That's a very polite way of putting it. Many Indians live in squalor. Bathing with clean water is almost unheard of in the big cities. Even Indians here in the US, often in IT, tend to exude the very powerful odors of curry and tobacco. While they love American "luxuries" such as clean running water and fresh foods, they tend to live in tightly packed homes with very large extended families.

I dated an Indian girl for a few months when I was in my twenties. She was very Americanized, but her family was extremely xenophobic. When she brought me home to mom and dad, the look of disdain was absolutely unmistakable despite my education and career path. Most Indians I know in my IT shop are much the same way. They will be generally polite with Americans, white, black, or Hispanic, but they absolutely prefer to keep their circle of friends close.

I have no problem with the Indian people in general, but I would not patronize a business run by them if it involved food or lodging.

I’m not trying to be prejudiced, but I noticed something that really hit home yesterday.

Had a corporate owned 7 Eleven up the street. Always clean and spotless, two working bathrooms that were stocked and cleaned, food area was shiny, always saw someone over there wiping it down. Had diverse employees, white, black, etc...

About 6 months ago, it was bought as a franchise. By an Indian man. Had a big party, big sign, NEW FRANCHISE RUN!

Yesterday (and it’s been going down hill for a while I guess, just didn’t notice until yesterday) First, I remember them closing one of the bathrooms, don’t know why. Yesterday, went into the only one available, no toilet paper. That happens, but it’s been more frequent, even to the point I make sure I grab a few napkins on the way in just in case. The worst was there was no soap and the water in the sink wasn’t working. Thank God I carry sanitizer. Then I got to looking around. The floors were filthy. And I mean in the store part. Like they haven’t been mopped in God knows how long. And I had been noticing my favorite cashiers were disappearing and being replaced with Indian men and women. As I tallied, I couldn’t remember NOT seeing an Indian man or woman working the register.

Needless to say, I will find a new store. I hate that too because I could get gas there, get a drink for my day and maybe grab a hot dog (I like them from there for some reason) but also thought, “Well, when was the last time I didn’t see one on the little rolling rack that didn’t look like a shriveled up beef jerky”

So sad too. It was really close by.

P.S. My point is that there does seem to be a different standard.

If it is so close by, why thefrequency of using their toilets? Inquiring minds and all that.

On second thought, never mind. ;0

Interesting observations. Noticed the same with a popular chain of grocery stores here. Walked in the other day, and had to immediately leave. The entire store reeked of urine. Made my eyes water. Floor was sticky under foot. Fruits, vegetables were obviously culled from other sources (dumpster), after going bad. Processed/packaged goods were 2-3 days post “sell by” date. All in a brightly-lit and smartly decorated American-styled grocery store. I spent most of my life living in Third World countries, shopping in their markets, purchasing and consuming the local “street meat” without complaint. I refuse to live that way here.

I am female. That’s one thing right there lol. But after being in the car for several hours for work, I stop on the way home for gas or what not and when I stand up... well even that little ride home seems like forever. lol
