Well said, Mrs Don-o!

It is truly sad how so many American Christians can be so overly simplistic. Paul did say that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, but he never said that the Holy Spirit can only dwell in a believer’s body. Christian temples (the proper name for a church building) are still holy. Paul uses the concept of the temple’s holiness to teach his message about how to treat the body. Everyone in his time understood the sanctity of the temple; no one would dare desecrate the temple. So he drew on that common accepted belief to explain to Christians that they should consider the body holy and clean, using the temple as an example for them.
