SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A group of Republican legislators is asking a state district court in southern New Mexico to stop a county clerk from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Unfortunately, it won't do any good - that horse is already out of the barn. Each day another county has begun issuing licenses, sometimes on their own and sometimes at the direction of a state District court judge (Democrats all, as are all the state Supreme court judges). So far the counties affected are Dona Ana, Santa Fe, Bernalillo, Taos, Valencia, and San Miguel, which have over 50% of the state's population. Los Alamos could start issuing licenses on Tuesday, again at the direction of a judge. More conservative and rural counties (like Lea in SE NM) have clerks who say they will not issue licenses. Separately, all the county clerks filed a motion yesterday in Albuquerque asking that the state Supreme Court sort out the mess and issue a statewide order clarifying the matter. Of course, since all the SSC judges are Democrats, and ruled last week that a Christian wedding photographer had no right to refuse service to participants in a gay wedding, we already know the out come.

Isn't that fascinating?

The "justices" feel that they can compel participation in repugnant behavior.

If a pornographer demanded they film a little sex scene for him, would the "court" rule that they had no right to refuse on personal moral grounds?

After all, no one is breaking a law. And if we all have to hold our noses and do things we find distasteful as the "lubricant" of our society as the In-Justice wrote, then where would we have the legal right not to do it?

A previous generation would have run these fascist deviants out of their judicial chambers, maybe even worse.

Yes. No doubt about it. After all, who are we to judge?

As pointed out in another thread:
fieldmarshaldj: Martinez would need a sympathetic AG and the Courts to back her. She has neither. The NM Supremes are 100% militant pro-homo anti-Christian leftists.

fifedom: Sorry, not buying it. The governor of a state has a lot of power including the bully pulpit.

CedarDave: fieldmarshaldj is correct; in a state where conservative Republicans are hard to find in the major population centers and where the legislature is solidly Democratic as are the judges, there is not much she can do other than speak out as she has about it (marriage is between a man and a woman, not the purview of the courts/clerks to decide this, needs to be put to the voters). She's sticking to economic issues that she has a chance to win in the legislature. However, they continue to deny her requests to repeal driver's licenses for illegals, and the senate has three times refused to confirm her selection as state education secretary [teacher's unions, of course].

Lifesitenews has a very revealing story about a Catholic bishop who announced recently that he switched parties to Republican. That is the good news, the bad news is that he had been a Democrat for many, many years. The Democrat party put support for abortion and the gay agenda on their party platform in 1976. I remember watching this during the Democrat convention. What was that Bishop thinking for almost 40 years? What loyalty could he have had that could have been stronger than his vows to his God?

Since the Catholic Church has had a very close relationship with the Democrat party for more than a century, could it be that this bishop was one of those worldly clergy who wanted to rub elbows with the powerful? Jesus spoke of people who liked to have the places of honor at the table, I wonder if this Bishop was that kind.

As Christians, we are familiar with the stories of the Pharisees who were the chief opponents of Jesus Christ. Jesus describes them as being hypocritical and full of pride. The same kind of clergy exist today in the Christian churches. “Pharisee” doesn’t just apply to the Jewish clergy of 2,000 years ago.
