He’s going to shoot some cruise missiles “across the bow” and hope that all his Syria troubles simply go away. I wonder how he’ll react if Assad launches another chemical attack. Then the U.S. will really be in a bind. This might escalate out of control, as most wars tend to do.
If Assad retaliates by hitting our ships positioned off the Syrian coast, what do we do then? (Do we know for certain that he doesn't have that capability?)
