The problem is that Republican’s haven’t figured out how to fix it either. Obamacare is not helping but our economic was hurting before Obamacare.
The problem is that 40 years ago we lowered the import tariffs and they now average just 1%. Low wage countries are taking our jobs and industries. And we have all been taught protectionism was a bad thing. Even though the USA had tariffs of 15% or more it’s first 190 years.
And there are still several hundred million of Chinese waiting to come in from the fields and take a factory job.
America needs to raise the tariffs while we still have enough capital and know how to rebuild our industries.

Raising tariffs aren’t going to fix it. That’s just more money to the government. More taxes. Good idea.
China is already in danger of food shortages. The stories of tons of low wage labor just waiting to crush the USA is BS.
Automation has replaced many manual labor jobs. The fact that these were ever good paying jobs was the result of the false economy resulting from the USA coming out of WWII unscathed. Those days are over and will never come back.
We need 21st century jobs, not 1950’s jobs. Unfortunately, our horrible education system leaves us unprepared for such jobs, even if they did exist.
Tariffs do not address any of this.

Yeah, that'll work out reel gud! Any economist will tell you that government pays all the higher prices, not the consumers (who already can't buy the gas to go to the beach!). We surely need more burdens added to the cost of living!
